Taiji Classes Continue at ELTE in the Spring Semester

2026. June 29.

During the 2026 spring semester, ELTE students once again have the opportunity to take taiji as a credit-bearing course. The highly popular classes were first launched in September 2023 at the BEAC sports complex on Bogdánfy Street under the guidance of certified wushu instructor Sára Krémer.

This semester, 19 students joined the course and practise this distinctive East Asian form of movement every Wednesday. The aim of the programme is for participants to master a ten-movement form by the end of the semester.

In addition to learning the ten basic movements of Yang-style taiji, students are also introduced to the origins of the martial art and its cultural and philosophical background.

Regular taiji practice offers numerous benefits: it helps reduce stress, improves balance, strengthens concentration, and promotes physical and mental harmony as well as long-term well-being.

From the 2026 autumn semester, the Institute plans to offer not only a beginners’ course but also an advanced-level taiji course.
