Professor Li Chen, lecturer at the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, visited the ELTE Con-fucius Institute

On April 7, 2025, Professor Li Chen, a lecturer at the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, visited the ELTE Confucius Institute, where he held a painting workshop. The event was organized in collaboration with the Confucius Institute of Matej Bel University in Slovakia. More than 20 of our students participated in the program, all of whom are enrolled in our art courses. The event also welcomed guest artist and calligrapher Janisz Horváth, who teaches painting and calligraphy at our Institute.

In his short opening speech, Li Denggui, the Chinese director of the ELTE Confucius Institute, welcomed Professor Li Chen, Wang Jianwei (director of the Confucius Institute at Matej Bel University), Janisz Horváth, and all participants, after which the workshop commenced.

During the interactive session, Professor Li Chen demonstrated his own painting technique, explaining how Chinese ink painting can be combined with Western realist methods. Follo-wing this, the students created portraits of one another based on his instructions.

Participants of the painting workshop not only learned a new painting technique that blends traditional and modern approaches, but also had the opportunity to gain a deeper understand-ing of the Chinese visual perspective.
