Mid-Autumn Festival at the Confucius Institute of ELTE

2023. October 13.

This year's Mid-Autumn Festival was all about music, fun and the meeting of cultures, as Chinese and Hungarian academics and students from the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music celebrated together. The event was attended by distinguished leaders of the university, including László Borhy, Rector of ELTE, Dávid Bartus, Dean of ELTE BTK, Imre Hamar, Vice Rector for International Affairs and Hungarian Director of the Institute, and Li Denggui, Director of the Institute in China.

The holiday is a celebration of family unity and natural abundance, with people holding family gatherings, eating traditional food and decorating their surroundings with lanterns. The ELTE Confucius Institute also organised a celebration for staff and Chinese teachers from the Institute and the university, underlining that we are one big family.

Students from the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music opened the evening with a special concert of Chinese and Hungarian folk songs, creating a unique festive atmosphere. The concert was followed by ceremonial speeches.

In his welcome speech, Dean Dávid Bartus highlighted the growing interest in Chinese language and culture, which is best measured by the number of students, with more than 200 students choosing Chinese language at the institution.
