2023. May 25.

A high-level delegation from Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) recently embarked on a momentous visit to Hungary, marking their first international trip since the onset of the global pandemic. Over the course of four eventful days, the delegation, led by chairman Wang Dinghua and director Jin Limin, engaged in fruitful academic exchanges, visited renowned institutions, and immersed themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Hungary. This landmark visit not only solidified the partnership between the BFSU delegates and their Hungarian counterparts but also paved the way for future collaborations in various scientific and cultural domains.

The delegation's arrival at their host institution in Hungary, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), was met with great anticipation and hospitality. Imre Hamar (Director of the ELTE Confucius Institute) along with Li Denggui (Chinese Director of the ELTE Confucius Institute), Ye Qiujue (Director of Education of the Central and Eastern European Regional Centre), and Anna Csikó (Director of Special Projects), warmly welcomed the distinguished guests. Adding to the delight of the delegation, esteemed film director Xie Fei was also present at the reception, upon their request.

On the second day of their visit, the delegation had the privilege of meeting Dr. László Borhy, Rector of ELTE, and the management of the university. This marked the beginning of extensive negotiations between the leaders of both institutions, culminating in a landmark cooperation agreement. The agreement served as a testament to the mutual dedication and enthusiasm shared by BFSU and ELTE in fostering collaborative initiatives. In line with the agreement, the director of the host institute was appointed as a visiting professor by the management of BFSU, further solidifying the academic ties between the two universities.

While in Hungary, the delegation made the most of their multi-day program, immersing themselves in the rich cultural offerings of the country. The delegation had the privilege of visiting renowned institutions, such as the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Hungary, and the Confucius Institute of ELTE. Alongside these professional endeavors, the delegation had the opportunity to explore iconic landmarks including Heroes' Square, the Fisherman's Bastion, and the bustling Deák Ferenc Square. They also indulged in a memorable joint Danube cruise, further fostering cultural understanding and camaraderie between the delegates.

Throughout the stay, the days concluded with festive dinners, serving as platforms for the delegation to savor a diverse range of culinary delights, from traditional Chinese delicacies to authentic Hungarian and other national cuisines. These convivial gatherings provided an ideal setting for further cultural exchange and networking.

The visit of the high-level delegation from BFSU to Hungary not only reinforced the existing partnership between the two universities but also paved the way for a deeper and more comprehensive collaboration. With the successful conclusion of the cooperation agreement and the appointment of a visiting professor, both institutions are poised to enhance student and teacher exchanges, foster scientific research collaborations, and promote cultural understanding. This momentous visit will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the academic landscapes of both BFSU and ELTE, heralding a new era of cooperation and friendship between these esteemed educational institutions.
