Renowned Director Xie Fei Inspires and Connects at Our Institute

2023. May 24.

The atmosphere at our institute was one of excitement and anticipation as renowned Chinese film director Xie Fei graced us with his presence. Transforming the Kodály Room of Building F into a captivating cinema, Xie Fei treated the audience to a personal lecture, a round table discussion, and a screening of his thought-provoking film, A Mongolian Tale. The event was a part of a series of significant happenings, including a Chinese career day and a visit from a delegation of dignitaries from Beijing Foreign Studies University, making it a truly remarkable day.

On the memorable day of May 24, our institute hosted three momentous events that have left a lasting impact. The Chinese career day drew an enormous crowd, offering valuable insights and opportunities. Following this, our students had the privilege of engaging in a captivating conversation with the internationally acclaimed film director. To top it off, we welcomed a distinguished delegation from Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), marking the first such visit to Hungary since the onset of the pandemic.

The anticipation in the audience was palpable as the renowned Chinese film director took the stage. At 83 years old, Xie Fei delighted everyone with a concise presentation, providing a nostalgic journey through his extensive body of work. The director's old film notebooks, containing his reflections on over 500 films that he watched during his formative years, including 10 Hungarian films, added a touch of personal connection.
