ELTE Confucius Institute Holds Second All-Teachers Meeting for 2022-2023 Academic Year

The ELTE Confucius Institute held its second all-teachers meeting for the 2022–2023 academic year, with both Chinese and Hungarian teachers in attendance, along with volunteer teachers from various teaching locations. The meeting addressed important topics, such as course scheduling, workload allocation, and management regulations for teachers, and emphasized the importance of professionalism and ethical behavior.

The meeting was chaired by the Chinese Director of the ELTE Confucius Institute Li Denggui and attended by all dispatched and volunteer teachers in Budapest, as well as teachers from external teaching locations in Tokaj, Miskolc, Eger, and Győr, who participated via the Zoom platform.

At 2:00 PM, the meeting started on time. First, the Director of Education Ms. Judit Veres explained the relevant regulations of the Confucius Institute in terms of course arrangement, course hours, and workload distribution, reiterating the relevant terms in the teaching contract and requiring all teachers to follow the teaching arrangement of the Confucius Institute.

In his speech, Li Denggui requested that all teachers comply with the regulations of the Language and Culture Center, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and the Confucius Institute and follow instructions, and he emphasized that all teachers should "be loyal to their duties, take on responsibilities courageously, be willing to contribute, and maintain good professional qualities and ethics."

Regarding the management of dispatched teachers, Li Denggui provided detailed explanations of the regulations for on-the-job training attendance; leave; spousal accompaniment and visitation; extensions; annual assessment; and disciplinary action. Regarding the management of volunteer teachers, Li Denggui also made relevant explanations on course hour requirements, term limits, leave, and departure time.

Subsequently, Assistant Director Ms. Xu Xiaokai read out the "Regulations for the Management of ELTE Confucius Institute's Dispatched and Volunteer Teachers," emphasizing the relevant regulations and requirements of the Confucius Institute teachers in terms of teaching tasks, cultural activities, duty systems, and other work arrangements.

Finally, Li Denggui announced work to be carried out in the future, such as a listening and evaluation system, teaching plan inspections, teachers' monthly summaries, volunteer teacher teaching seminars, the 11th Central and Eastern European teacher training, and the recommendation of participants for the 2023 Chinese Bridge Competition.

In addition, Li Denggui also explained the changes and handover of administrative work team members responsible for translating for the board of directors, the Chinese Bridge competition, dictionary proofreading, the Confucius Institute Spring Festival Gala, regular events, HSK examination affairs, scholarship projects, cultural activity planning, WeChat public account editing, the construction of the Chinese cultural database, and winter/summer camps.
