A Children’s Day Was Again Held in Városliget After a Two-Year Hiatus

2022. May 29.

On the last Sunday of May, various cultural programs were organized by ELTE’s Confucius Institute for families in Budapest’s second largest park.

On May 29, 2022, the Confucius Institute held its programs at the popular large green areas of Városliget. Both children and adults came to enjoy several programs inspired by China’s unique art and culture.

Children were able to try Chinese calligraphy as well as learn how to use chopsticks. Many people of all ages spent hours playing the famous Chinese version of chess, with several of the institute’s Chinese teachers joining in.

One of the most popular programs was Chinese knotting, which involves making pieces of art out of satin strings. During this creative program, Bernadett Vreczkó, the institute’s expert on Chinese knotting, talked about the history of the art and its symbolism, and participants were invited to make bracelets of their own.

László Kövér, the president of the Hungarian Parliament, also took part in our event. He was curious about how many students our institute has each year, and we also told him about our programs and methods for bringing Chinese culture closer to the Hungarian people.
