The Kodály Hall was full on the Night of Researchers

2023. September 29.

At the national event we tried to present research topics that are topical and interesting.

It is great news that this year ELTE BTK had more than 70 programmes for visitors. As every year, we have tried to prepare exceptional presentations.

Among other things, we looked for the connection between Buddha and Barbie, explored the mythical creatures of Chinese fantasy, had a little adventure in the world of Far Eastern comics, persevered in our quest to find the common roots of Japanese and Chinese martial arts, and finally talked about the Cultural Revolution, following the life of the writer Chen Ruoxi.

This year's speakers and lectures:

Janka Farkas

THE MAGICAL WORLD OF CHINESE FANTASY
An introduction to the popular Far Eastern mystical genre with a focus on traditional Chinese mythology.

Gábor Gottner Richárd

IS JIU JITSU CHINESE?
Were Japanese martial arts really born in the Saolin Temple?

István Olajos

"MANGA" STORIES: THE WORLD OF CHINESE MANHUA
Neither manga nor manhwa: how the Chinese "comic book" evolved

Janka Megyeri

BARBIE & BUDDHA
How does Buddhism appear in Greta Gerwig's Barbie?

Laura Torma
THE LITERATURE OF THE CULTURAL REVOLUTION ON BOTH COASTS

The event was sold out, thank you for choosing the Institute's programmes! See you next year!
