The 21st Chinese Bridge competition concluded

2022. május 27.

The 21st Chinese Bridge competition concluded, on which the students of ELTE Confucius Institute performed brilliantly.

On the 27th of May 2022, cooperating with three other Hungarian Confucius Institutes and two universities, the 21st Chinese Bridge competition was held. The event was held online by the Chinese Embassy in Hungary and SZTE Confucius Institute.

The Chinese Bridge language competition is organised since 2002, it is the most important of such events, usually organised by a Chinese Embassy together with a Confucius Institute. In the beginning only university students could partake, that has been slowly expanded to high school students, and now, for the second year, even elementary schoolers.

Chinese Bridge was held online in 2022 too

The event was opened by Qi Dayu Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China in Hungary, then Prof Fr. Klára Gellén, educational vice rector of SZTE. The ambassador emphasized in his opening speech how the popularisation of the Chinese language is dependent upon the hard work of teachers and the support of parents. Furthermore, he added it is delighting to see how the closer relations between China and Hungary could be seen in the youth and the urge for mutual understanding.
